Square Enix won’t be bringing Final Fantasy games from FF7 and up into the fold anytime soon, but the company announced they’ll be bringing Final Fantasy spin-offs, mini-games, and other titles based on the Final Fantasy universe to mobile. In fact, Square Enix has been doing this quite recently, with titles like Final Fantasy VII G-Bike being released on the Android platform.

Just last week, Square Enix announced a new title in the Final Fantasy franchise that’s set to be released for both iOS and Android users in 2015 (no exact date yet). The games is called Mevius Final Fantasy.

Little is known about this RPG, but there is currently a teaser website that you can visit right here:

A message from producer Yoshinori Kitase reads:

A new era of gaming is here. We’re crafting a full-scale, high-quality RPG world the likes of which has never been seen on smartphones and tablets. This is the end product of longtime FINAL FANTASY creators bringing the series to mobile―and things will never be the same.”

According to an interview with Famitsu, Square Enix said that Mevius Final Fantasy is not just a spin-off game, as it’s going to be a full installment into the franchise. It’s as promising as it sounds, and it ups the ante with an English version teaser website, something that rarely happens unless a game is getting a Western release as well.

Information is scarce about the up-and-coming RPG’s storyline and gameplay, but when Yoshinori Kitase is in it, expect nothing less than pure awesomeness. The guy previously directedChrono TriggerFinal Fantasy VIIFinal Fantasy VIII, and other notable titles. He also wrote for Fantasy VIIFinal Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy X and X-2.

Square Enix sure has a lot of stuff up their sleeves in 2015, what with Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 HD coming to PlayStation 4; Final Fantasy Type-O hitting with the Final Fantasy XV demo; and the re-launching of Final Fantasy VIIon PlayStation 4, as well! That’s a lot of Final Fantasy to look forward to in a single year!
